The Story Behind the Jeweled Egg

The tradition of the ornate, jeweled Easter egg traces back to Imperial Russia in the late 1800s. In 1885, a Russian tsar gave his wife an unusual Easter gift: a small white enameled egg that opened to reveal a golden yolk, a tiny golden hen, and a miniature crown tucked inside. She was delighted — and a tradition was born. For the next three decades, the Russian royal family commissioned a new jeweled egg every Easter, each one unique, each one hiding a small surprise within.

These objects became some of the most celebrated examples of decorative art in history. Crafted from gold, silver, enamel, and precious stones, they took entire teams of goldsmiths, enamellers, and miniaturists a full year to complete. Many of the original imperial eggs survive today and are displayed in museums from Moscow to New York.

Our decorative eggs are inspired by that centuries-old tradition of the jeweled keepsake — small treasures meant to delight, to surprise, and to be passed down. Each one is designed as a trinket box and memento, a modern tribute to a timeless art form.

Our Origin Story: The Australian "Chance Encounter"

House of Jax began with a simple search to replace a stolen handbag, leading to a chance encounter in a small Australian designer box factory. There, amongst 'old-school' ports and precision-made boxes, a collaboration began with a kind, elderly Asian craftsman. That moment sparked a brand that flows today—blending Australian design aesthetics in our Tila bracelets with the precision of Japanese Miyuki beads and the opulence of my husband’s heritage interest in Fabergé-style artistry. Together, these elements bridge global cultures and ages, opening exciting, fashion-forward possibilities for everyone.

Paws for a Cause

At House of Jax, we believe love for beautiful things and love for animals go hand in hand. A percentage of select sales from our dog charm bracelets goes towards keeping pets and their people together. Because every purchase can make a difference.

Our Founder

Jay Tomasevic

House of Jax was created by Jay Tomasevic, inspired by a long appreciation for objects that carry meaning.

What began as a personal interest in distinctive pieces gradually became a curated collection of jewellery, keepsakes and collectibles designed to be worn, displayed and kept.

Jay believes the right object can do more than look beautiful. It can mark a moment, reflect personal style, or simply bring quiet enjoyment to everyday life.

House of Jax continues to grow through this same philosophy: discovering pieces that feel special enough to keep.

Playful Elegance

Thoughtfully designed pieces for expression, gifting, and moments worth keeping.
